Dr. Lou Gilles initially began his professional career in Chicago as an Engineer and Product Developer. He spent more than 20 years working in the telecommunications and holds four patents in the field. A job opportunity to help build the T-Mobile network brought him to California in the early 1990’s. Because of a real interest in helping others, he decided to return to Podiatric medical school in 2010.

Dr. Gilles graduated from California School of Podiatric Medicine, in 2015, and currently holds a teaching position at the school, as Director of Learning Strategies. In this position, he teaches integrative learning strategies, professionalism and helps to prepare medical students for the rigors of residency training, and practice.

After graduating from medical school, Dr. Gilles planned and implemented a residency program at Scripps Encinitas hospital. Not only was this the first program ever sponsored by the hospital, it was the first time a program was designed by a resident. The program was approved by the College on Podiatric Medical Education and continues to train new Podiatrists.

At Gilles Foot and Ankle, you will always meet with and be treated by Dr. Gilles. Your treatment will be designed and performed by the doctor. Rest assured that Dr. Gilles has your best interests at heart.

Dr. Gilles chose Podiatry as his field of practice because of the impact that foot and ankle care has on the quality of life. “I have been a resident of North County since 1997, and this is the most active and happy community I have ever experienced. Being able to contribute to the health of my community is truly an honor. I look forward to meeting you.”

In his free time Dr. Gilles enjoys spending time with his wife, his three children and life in the wonderful community of North County San Diego.
